World pecan production in 2019/2020 is estimated at 139,739 metric tons, with Mexico and the United States leading the world in production with 47% and 43% of the world share, respectively, with South Africa, Australia and Brazil accounting for the remaining 10%. Its production has maintained steady growth as new South African plantings begin to bear fruit. In 2019/20, crop production was up 5% from the previous season and double the average of the previous 10 years.
