Shell fruits that cannot be shipped to the processing plant within one month of harvest must be preserved as described in 4.2. 1. If the temperature does not exceed 25 degrees, the shell fruit with a moisture content of 5% can be safely stored for 3 months without reducing the quality. As long as the following conditions are met, the drying bin can be used as a storage container: 1) Assuming that the drying temperature exceeds 25 degrees, a warehouse fan can quickly cool the shell fruit to below 25 degrees. 2) The air that is more humid than the shell fruit equilibrium moisture content of 5% must be removed from the warehouse. That is, shell nuts are hygroscopic, and if the relative humidity of the ambient air is greater than 30%, it will absorb moisture. NOTE: Once the shells are dry and cool, it is not necessary to recirculate the air, turn off the fan. Different batches of shell fruits dried at different times may be stored in a larger container at the same time as long as they have the same moisture content and temperature. To do this, the earliest stored shell nuts should not be stored for longer than 3. month. Note: Hybrid varieties and Macadamia Nutella should not be mixed.
