Thrips (Scirtothrips sp.)
release time:
2021-03-19
Thrips are small insects with rasp-sucking mouthparts that can cause serious damage to flowers and disrupt plant growth, especially during the dry season. The nibbling of the inflorescence by the thrips causes the inflorescence to fade to brown or bronze and causes the flower bud to die. Two typical symptoms appear - the curling of new leaves causes these leaves to develop stunted like a ribbon; the curling of smaller leaves causes the leaves to turn yellow or brown and roll into a cup shape. Adult thrips are small (less than 1.5mm in actual size) and difficult to see with the naked eye.
