The Australian macadamia industry achieved a farm-gate value* of $104M in 2023, continuing a recent downward trend from a high of $334M in 2020. 75% of the 2023 crop was exported at a value of AUD $300M.
The Australian macadamia industry experienced unprecedented market conditions in 2023, due primarily to the combination of reduced global demand and a rapidly increasing global supply. It was a very difficult year, with the softest farm gate prices in more than a decade.
